Still waiting- patiently?

I thought that I was a pretty patient person- until now. The whole idea of "waiting" to find out if I get this reading improvement job is tough. They told me that I would know in 2 weeks and it has been a week and a half. I really want this job, but am constantly reminding myself that it may be ME that wants this job- but not God. When I start anxiously thinking about this job and really desiring it, I stop and pray about it and then start thinking about something else. At least I will know soon enough. I actually found out today that a candidate that interviewed for the part time reading improvement position found out already that she did not get the position- by email! Eek. Right now I am believing that no news is good news- right? What if I got that email too, but I accidentally erased it?! Oops!

Proverbs 3:5,6- Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, acknowledge Him in all of your ways and He will keep your path straight. (I don't have my Bible on hand- but this is the gist of it)

Anyways- Madison had her "Last Slide" at preschool and I am so glad that I was able to be there. Each child at the preschool slid down the slide and received a red flower to take home and plant. Here are some of the pictures that I took on this special day!

Before going to preschool . . .

Waiting to go down the slide . . .

Down the slide . . .
And with flower!

Here is the cupcake cake that Grammy bought to celebrate Madison officially becoming a KINDERGARTENER! It's 2 white cupcakes with A LOT of frosting. Joyce- I bet that you could EASILY make this!

And one more piece of news- today Madison got her ears pierced! We decided to go to the mall and walk around since Daddy wouldn't be home for dinner since he was flying. We have talked a little bit about getting Madison's ears pierced, but thought that we should wait until she was a little older- and Madison thought so too. Well, we ended up changing our minds. She chose little sparkling stars and they look adorable on her. She did cry when they were pierced, but after a few minutes she was fine. I took pics on my phone since I did not have my camera with me, but I am not sure if I will figure out how to download them. We already turned her earrings and put the "medicine" (cleaning solution) on them and she was fine. She is SO excited to have her ears pierced and said that she would definitely do it again even though she cried.

Lastly- Archie is doing an AWESOME job with his flying. He has 40 hours over the flight hours needed to get his license, but still needs to complete a few items such as flying at night and going over 150 miles cross country. After that is all done, he will be completing his test on the computer and be done! He wants to fly the both of us down to a wedding that I am standing up for in August- we'll have to see, but he probably will if we are able to borrow his dad's plane. Crazy but exciting!

I hope to share some really good news with you in the next few days- until then!

What we've been doing

I know that it has been a while since I've blogged, so I'll tell you all about the events in our lives and what's been going on these past 2 weeks.

  • Madison had a tick in her hair and I had to use tweezers to get it out

  • I found out that I could job share next shool year at a different school . . . THEN. . .

  • I interviewed for a reading improvement position and have been anxiously waiting to find out if I got it- I REALLY want it!

  • I went to the ER and found out that I have an ovarian cyst that possibly leaked or ruptured. All of a sudden, I felt like I was 9 months pregnant and in labor- OUCH!

  • Madison celebrated her birthday at school since she has a summer birthday and I was able to come in with the boys and help her celebrate with dunkin donuts and juiceboxes!

  • Madison had her last day of "pom poms" at the park district so we went out to dinner to celebrate how well she perfomed. Here is Madison with the boys and Grandma Coleman.

  • I got a new bike! Yipee! I love riding it and Madison likes to remind me that I am not wearing my helmet- OOPS! She also got a helmet for her bike and LOVES wearing it. My sister Julie went shopping with me for a bike and we both ended up getting the same one. I think that this is it. It's a GIANT bike and I believe the name of it is a Sedona. My bike is blue. Any of you around here that want to go on a LONG bike ride- let me know and we'll bike!
And of course the kids have been running around and having fun together. Christian is trying to move the car but he can't since Madison is riding on top of it.

The boys LOVE playing in my sheer curtains that I have hanging in the family room. They can entertain themselves for hours by laughing and shrieking while they look for one another. It's so adorable to watch.

Tomorrow is Madison's last day of preschool, so I'll show you some pictures of her "Last Slide" that they do at her school.

Until then-

Happy Mother's Day- something to never forget

Happy -belated- Mother's Day to all of you wonderful mothers, grandmothers, and aunts out there! The following "article" is an email that I received on Friday and finally read it today and decided to share it with all of you. Often I forget to "seize the moment" because I get too caught up with the every day things that need to be done. This was a good reminder for me about what is TRULY important, and I hope that it will be good reminder for you too.

Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry, and pick you up and take you to the park to play. *Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together. *Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles. *Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the ice cream truck and I will buy you one if he comes by. *Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned. *Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them. *Just for this afternoon, I will take us to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys. *Just for this evening, I will hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you. *Just for this evening, I will let you splash in the tub and not get angry. *Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars. *Just for this evening, I will snuggle beside you for hours, and miss my favorite TV shows. *Just for this evening when I run my finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.

Look what we've been up to

I had a great time celebrating my 32nd bday with my family last week. My sister took this picture of Madison and I blowing out my candles together- it was cute. Archie sent me beautiful flowers to school which was a very sweet surprise. When I woke up that morning, Madison was standing next to my bed and wishing me a happpy birthday. She asked me if I was 52 years old, and when I said no, she asked if I was 62. It's crazy that you can age so quickly in just a minute.
Christian fell yesterday on my mom's patio. Take a look at the bruiser on his forehead. Poor little guy. He still has a smile on his face and is not letting anything get in his way.

Before Madison went to the doctor for her kindergarten phusical, she did her own hair. Well, I did the pony tail part and she did the clip part. She was SO excited that she did her hair all by herself. I really didn't want her to wear all of those clips and when I gently told her that maybe she should take out a few- she did not like that idea at all. Good thing I let her play outside before the doctor's appt. She ended up taking them out on her own since they were getting in the way when she was donig somersaults. Yes!
As for the doctor's appointment, Madison did not say a single word to him. Not even a peep with an Oreo McFlurry bribe! I know that she is shy, but we were even practicing "Good morning Dr. ______" 1 minute before he came in and she had it down perfectly. Since he has a humorous side, he told Madison that it was great talking to her. Of course, after he left, she was a little chatterbox. She did say thank you to the nurse for giving her some stickers and a lollipop after her shots were done. At least the words that did come out of her mouth were polite manners.
The shots were awful. Instead of looking at the wall as she was instructed to do, she insisted at looking at the shot that went into her. EEk! And of course there were not only tears but screams of pain. I do hope that her 5th grade shots are a lot better, or I may not be able to hold her down then! Since she had her optical appointment toaday (she has 20/25 vision)- she is 100% ready for kindergarten. All of the forms are filled out and waiting at her new school. I am very excited for her to start school and her "educational career." My baby is DEFINITELY growing up and I love watching it.
Lastly- here are Madison and her 4 cousins yesterday afternoon. We enjoyed some time playing outside and running down hills. They also loved climbing trees and taking pictures. Madison ALWAYS loves spending time with her cousins.

Something new

Yes, this is Amy's blog page. I wanted a different look- a new look. I am not sure if I am going to keep this one, but for now it will do.

Discipline

Well, do you all remember that little word that I wrote about in the beginning of the year- discipline. (See January 4th blog for more info.) That word was supposed to be my word of the year and help mold me into a better person. OOps! I forgot about it. Maybe that is why I am still in bed late, why I have not worked out for well over a month, and why my boys' are getting away with things that Madison would not have gotten away with at this age. Oh.

If you don't succeed at first, try, try again. I guess that I need to start thinking about that word again. How do you think a bright neon sign would look in my house? How are all of you doing on your words?

I hope to blog soon and share all the "fun" we have had these past few weeks- ex. Madison's kindergaren shots- torture!
